Slavo Kukic: A Renowned Sociologist from Bosnia and Herzegovina
Slavo Kukic is a professor of sociology at the University of Mostar and a former member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He is also the author of several books and articles on sociology, social theory, social structure, social change, democracy, civil society, ethnicity, nationalism, and conflict resolution. One of his most influential works is Sociologija - Teorija Drustvene Strukture (Sociology - Theory of Social Structure), published in 2004.
In this book, Kukic provides a comprehensive overview of the main concepts, theories, and perspectives of sociology, as well as their historical development and contemporary relevance. He later left the party and joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), becoming one of its vice-presidents. He was also a candidate for the Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2011, but his nomination was rejected by the Parliament. He has been a vocal critic of nationalism, corruption, and authoritarianism in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as an advocate of democracy, human rights, and European integration.   
Kukic has published more than 20 books and over 200 scientific papers on various topics of sociology and social sciences. He has also participated in numerous national and international conferences, seminars, and projects. He is a member of several professional associations and organizations, such as the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the European Sociological Association, the International Sociological Association, and the World Association for Public Opinion Research. He has received several awards and recognitions for his work, such as the Order of Danica Hrvatska with the face of RuÄer BoÅkoviÄ, the Order of Stjepan RadiÄ, and the Medal of Merit for Culture.  
Kukic is married and has two children. He lives in Mostar, but also spends time in Sarajevo and Split. He speaks Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, English, German, and Russian. He enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and sports.  061ffe29dd
